I suppose since it's November, it’s okay for me to post this. I created this illustration for an article in AARP Magazine entitled “Dollar Stores are Popular”, so keep your eyes peeled for the latest issue. Thanks to Joanna Foucheux for art directing!

I submitted four sketches for this one. The first was a variation on the same idea—George riding in a shopping basket:



The second was Mount Rushmore including George’s head alongside items typically found in a dollar store:



The third was GW crossing the Delaware River accompanied by goods from the dollar store:



And the fourth was a shopping bag made out of a dollar bill filled with purchases from the dollar store (obviously this one was the winner):
